Dr. Vicky Nicolaidou is an Immunologist and Associate Professor in the Department of Life Sciences of the University of Nicosia and Adjunct Faculty of the University of Nicosia Medical School. She holds a BSc in Biology from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Greece (funded by the Cyprus State Scholarships Foundation, and an MRes (with Distinction in Biomedical Sciences from Imperial College London, UK. She received her PhD (funded by Arthritis Research UK) from the Kennedy Institute of Rheumatology, Imperial College London, in 2011 on Osteoimmunology supervised by Prof. Nicole Horwood.
Dr Nicolaidou is a member of various professional bodies and is a founding member and now-elected Chair of the Cyprus Society for Biological Sciences (SBSCy) since 2020. She served as the Treasurer at the previous election board. She is active in organizing scientific seminars (part of the organising committee of the 1st scientific conference of the SBSCy in October 2022) and in science communication participating in several public events, invited talks and public lectures. Since 2018, Dr Nicolaidou is appointed by the Cyprus National Bioethics Committee as member of the “Review Bioethics Committee for Biomedical and Clinical Research A” for the evaluation of Biomedical Research on Human Being and their biological substances and the clinical trials on Medicinal Products of Human use. She has also been awarded a prestigious scholarship by the Stavros Niarchos Foundation for bioethics training at the 3rd Annual Bioethics Summer Course of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Bioethics Academy (SNFBA), in June 2022.
Dr Nicolaidou is also an appointed FEBS (Federation of European Biochemical Societies) Education Ambassador for Cyprus 2023-2024.
